muddyboots Mon 14 Jan 08 19:26:03 | Hi - I too live in Dorset and I'm middle-aged!! I've tried riding but don't really have the nerve - scared of heights! Two out of three children are horse-mad though..
Love your books, haven't read them all yet but I'm working on it.
The website is great, look forward to future visits. |
leonberger Thu 17 Jan 08 13:25:40 | So you like to ride too? BMW - reliable but perhaps a little too conservative for such an independent free-spirit? How about something a little more 'racey' to keep up with the pace of your great books? I have an ailing and rather neglected FZR1000 that's missing the beautiful Doret countryside.
So where's your favourite place to go for a 'blast' on the Beemer? |
Lyndon_Stacey Sat 19 Jan 08 12:19:16 | Free spirit? Yes, you're right. The Beemer is facing being traded in, in the spring, for something with a little more buzz! Love to ride up Zig-Zag hill and over Cranborne Chase to a coffee and cake stop on the coast. |
kendall1 Sun 02 Mar 08 21:44:39 | I love to ride! I love riding horses as much as I can. We ride by a huge river, where the horses can gallop through the sand and crash through the water, its totally fun. |
Lyndon_Stacey Fri 11 Apr 08 23:10:52 | Hi, Kendall1 That sounds great! Whereabouts do you live and how many horses do you have? Tell me more? |
crazyface Wed 16 Apr 08 10:54:37 | Hi, I live in Australia, I am 31, work in Office (Admin). I live in a beautiful suburb surrounded by national parks, however still close to the city. I lived in the country for a while as a kid and had a pony (creampuff) at the age of 6 and went on long rides with my mum. Our family then relocated and the horses were sold, a few years later at the age of 10 I had another horse (pooh) who was with me for 6 years. I miss having a full time horse in my life...I miss the bond. I ride whenever I can and stop to watch/pat horses and go to shows whenever I see an oppourtunity. |
Lyndon_Stacey Thu 17 Apr 08 23:01:25 | Hi Crazyface! Nice to hear from you. I should be used to it, but I still find it kind of weird to think of people on the other side of the world reading stories that I've made up :-)
Glad to hear that you're enjoying them. Your home sounds great. What part of Oz is that in? |
crazyface Wed 23 Apr 08 22:58:01 | Hi Lyndon I live in Sydney, NSW.... Its raining for the 12th day in a row, Im loving it ! |
smallest_one Thu 24 Apr 08 09:22:20 | Hi everyone! |
smallest_one Thu 24 Apr 08 09:34:25 | I am from Hampshire originally but for the past 9 years have been living in Devon, which I love!
I am supposed to be middle aged ... but I don't feel it at all!
I used to ride as a child but haven't been on a horse in years. I do miss it sometimes.
I have a wonderful hubby and 2 fantastic sons who are both at senior school.
I am definitely a country bod and hope one day to have a little old cottage with chickens and other beasties and grow all my own veg. Yes ... the chickens can come in the house too!
|
Lyndon_Stacey Thu 24 Apr 08 13:19:20 | Hmm, Smallest one..... You sound like someone I went to school with.... :-) |
smallest_one Fri 25 Apr 08 16:38:12 | Did you sit at the back of the class ... ... and giggle uncontrollably too then Lyndon? :-D |
Lyndon_Stacey Sat 26 Apr 08 13:02:37 | Umm.... Possibly.... |
thomas Thu 31 Jul 08 17:42:22 | 'Ello hello Folks. Just discovered this site as I have just finished my first Lyndon book (Deadfall, as you ask)
When I find an auther I enjoy I usually try and look for a website and this one is better than most.
I'm a neighbour, Lyndon, having lived in Christchurch for the last 28 years. Prior to that Brighton, Ipswich, Oxford and originally The Wirral.
So far as age is concerned let's just say that I am making good use of my new bus pass.
Tom |
sirrah Sun 03 Aug 08 05:58:56 | I live in Australia and have enjoyed reading Dick Francis for many years. I've just finished reading "Outside Chance", and I'm now reading "Deadfall" and I love them. I think I enjoy them even more than Dick Francis as they are about horses and horse events rather than just racing. |
michnb Mon 11 Aug 08 23:40:59 | Hi, I'm Mich and I'm from Hertfordshire, UK. I'm 18 and am a show jumper on the south east circuit. I've been jumping in competition for 8 years and have been riding for 15!! At the moment I'm on a string of 5, with 9 jumping in the yard. We also have 2 alpacas, 2 dogs, a donkey and a goat, meaning there's always something happening (or going wrong!!) and seeming to take up more hours then there are in a day!! I've somehow managed to read every Lyndon Stacey book published - and I loved every one!! I always have a copy hanging around to pick up in those few spare moments of peace or hiding between the rugs in the lorry!! I can't think of a better way to spend my spare time, can't wait until the next one!! |
michnb Mon 11 Aug 08 23:43:03 | Oh, forgot to mention.... Operation: BRING BACK ROSS WAKELIN!!!
;) :) ;) :) |
Lyndon_Stacey Tue 12 Aug 08 23:21:35 | Am I seeing a theme....? ....going on here, Mich? Having read your little biog, I can see why you'd like to see more of Ross Wakelin.
I've no plans to revisit him at the moment, but never say never... |
kendall1 Sun 17 Aug 08 00:11:22 | I live in Texas Southeast Texas to be more specific. My family doesn't actually own horses any more, but we have several friends that are horse traders, so they constantly have new horses. My sisters and I ride and help train their horses, so when people wish to buy a horse they can tell it is kid-friendly. We love to just canter along in the sand next to a river for long stretches during the summer when riding somewhere without water would be unbearably hot. We ride everything from experienced ranch horses to high-strung show horses. The only thing I can't do well is jump, I try and try and all I manage to do is fall off, but it is fun anyway. We ride as often as we can, which is about every other week. I also love reading and while my family was on vacation in Toronto, my mother bought Deadfall, it was the lastest written at the time, and she is a huge fan of Dick Francis. She saw how people compared your books to his and bought one. I finished reading it before she did and was hooked on your books immeadiately. Now we have both read all of them. That's about all I can think of about me, I've ridden horses since I was 4 and I plan to continue as long as I live. |
sumsdiva1 Sat 20 Sep 08 21:55:33 | I am a retired (female) mathematics teacher living in Oxfordshire. I am an avid fan of National Hunt racing and enjoy reading racing novels by Francome and Francis. I only discovered your books two years ago and have since enjoyed every one of them. I was rather disappointed that there wasn't a new nowel this year. Will there be one later? I have never ridden a horse in my life and have no contact with horses but still love reading about them. |
Lyndon_Stacey Sun 05 Oct 08 00:01:17 | A book later this year? Thanks for asking Sumsdiva (love the username, by the way) but I'm afraid circumstances have conspired to make this a barren year. However rest assured, there IS one on the way. |
angel44 Thu 09 Oct 08 23:41:08 | Hi from a huge fan Hi, I have read all your books (numerous times) and absolutely love them! Can't wait for the next one to come out.....
I'm lucky to live in the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds, surrounded by hills and forests. I'm a stay at home Mom to a 10 year old son and a 7 year old daughter. Never a dull moment though, as we have 4 horses, 6 dogs (2 gsd's, 2 whippets, 2 jack russell and a jr x chihuahua), 4 cats and numerous parrots. Most of my time involves looking after the animals. I also handrear baby parrots in between working horses, exercising dogs and cleaning, cleaning, cleaning! I also love to read and always have a book on the go. I always find I become so emersed in your books that it almost feels like I'm there with the characters. Oh, did I mention, I'm a huge fan!!! |
joewolf Wed 26 Nov 08 23:25:41 | Great books I have really enjoyed your books. The other great thing is your website as it gives you a better idea of the style and as such its easy to risk a purchase.
I hail from South Africa and have recently moved to Australia. Living in Adelaide hills where a lot of small hobby farms exist including horses. My Dad had a love of horses which has skipped a generation and one of my daughters is into the lifestyle. I like crime novels so your books combine both interests.
Really need another though glad to see it is on its way next year hopefully. |
trishk7 Tue 02 Dec 08 14:31:54 | Hi everyone My name is Trish, surprise surprise.
I live in Leicester with my husband Tony and my gorgeous JRT Callie.
I couldn't any of Lyndon's book in Leicester so I went all the way to Hunstanton to buy them. Found three on Hunstanton market whilst taking Callie on a trip to the seaside. I am now looking out for the rest. |
trishk7 Tue 02 Dec 08 14:33:35 | Missed a word out of my last post, or should it be my first post.
Should have read Couldn't find any. |
reneighs Tue 17 Mar 09 15:05:36 | Just started reading My husband and I live in Ontario, Canada. We have 4 boys, a little farm with 6 horses, 2 cats, a boxer, and a bird. I have ridden horses or been involved with them for most of my life. I have worked on farms, at the race track both in Toronto and Florida, and am a certified riding instructor. Iam 39 years old. Right now I only work from home we take in a few boarders, my full time job is carting my children to sports:) |
unicornshoes Thu 26 Mar 09 13:21:51 | Hi I am 18 and come from Cardiff. I have my own horse, Frankie, a grey Standardbred who is 16 but shows no signs of slowing down, especially on beach rides (hehe). I've had him for 3 years and he is definitely a member of the family, (I ride him down to our house so Mum can give him treats). I do go to local shows but only jump 1ft 6 as I'm terrified of jumping and we don't really do dressage as he likes to go fast rather than controlled but I love him anyway. That's why I like reading your books 'cos they paint the equine characters so 'colourfully'. I am currently a student and hope to be an equine journalist when I graduate |
patrickr Sat 18 Apr 09 22:06:27 | Dorset Hi. I live in Sixpenny Handley on the Dorset-Wiltshire border, having previously lived in Blandford for a while. Am in my early 50s. Work as librarian and researcher near Salisbury and have done a significant amount of work in my life teaching people to improve their research, including the use of many tricks of the trade with search engines on the internet. Lived in London for many years but finally managed to escape to the countryside about 5 years ago and love it. Don't ride but am interested in horses primarily in respect of their performance on the racecourse - also do like to see them close up. Was at your event run by Huckleberry's on Friday 17th, I was the one who turned up late - apologies but animals came first (have two woofers and two cats). |
claire Fri 22 May 09 16:33:16 | Where am I from I live in New Hampshire (USA) and I love your books but unfortunately have a bugger of a time finding them (Borders and Barnes&Noble) in my local bookstores. I don't ride anymore (I am in my 50's - and just became a first time grandmother to twins, Addison and Carter) although in my youth I had a beautiful palomino and I rode alot then. I now just have a crazy feline (Alex) and a chocolate lab (Eben). I live in a small New England college town (Dartmouth College) and work as a cancer registrar at a local teaching hospital. I LOVE books, mysteries in particular, and mysteries with horses in them even more so. I love your work! Please keep them coming!!!!!! |
ross_wakelin Tue 10 Nov 09 15:28:11 | no really, I _am_ called Ross Wakelin I live in the north of Norway, 40-odd depending on when you read this, work as a research engineer in a town (population about 18 000) and relate better to wide open spaces than asphalt jungles. I've ridden horses just a couple of times, many years ago. So I am not a horsey person, but enjoyed reading Cut Throat and managed all the technical stuff. Not sure why I am here, but someone wrote bring back Ross Wakelin.. and yes I really am called that. So a question from me... was it a conscious choice of name given that the etymology of "Ross" comes from "Horse"??.
cheers |
Lyndon_Stacey Mon 16 Nov 09 00:42:54 | Hi Ross! How strange was it for you, reading a book where you where the main character?
I don't remember exactly why I chose the name. I think there was someone in my karate group years ago with the name of Wakelin and I liked it. As for the Ross part - I can't claim any clever reason, I think I just liked the name :-)
However, it was great to hear from you, and I'm glad you enjoyed Cut Throat. Try the others, they probably aren't so technical... |
angbvn Tue 29 Dec 09 16:02:51 | Hi I live in South West Scotland. I used to have a x arab gelding called Rory before having my two children - now grown up. Unfortunately we do not have any riding stables near enough for me to go to as I love horse riding. I have been a fan of Dick Francis for years and never thought I would enjoy books by another author more - but Lyndon's books far excel his and I have read them all so was thrilled to see a new one is to be published in Feb 2010. Excellent books which grab you from the first page and keep you enthralled throughout - so much I find them hard to put down once started. Please keep them coming Lyndon. |
laureng Wed 17 Feb 10 16:30:02 | so glad you're still telling tales!!! I write, take photos & ride in the heart of Virginia's horse country near Middleburg (USA). My age - well, suffice it to say that at heart I'm a pony-crazy kid. I am owned by a young Connemara whose lineage is pure Irish. He's young, especially mentally (very late geld & a relatively wild child when he came into my life), but he has a heart of gold and is developing into a lovely partner.
I have devoured and reviewed all of your books (for a publication with which I'm no longer affiliated - after 17 years! - so I can empathize with your publisher blues; however, I write for several publications keen to run my stories, etc).
I am so pleased that you are about to deliver the goods again. I would love to review it.
best wishes for continued success! |
